Acceptance

Just a quick note to say that I had a short story I submitted to a publisher accepted a week or so back now. Not sure when I can say more about it but it was great to have someone enthused enough by something I wrote to want to put it in an anthology.

It's been a while since I've actively been putting short story submissions out there but it really helps with that lonely working away at a novel which you know no-one will see for several months until finished to get that boost. Without it you can get to wondering if your writing is any good or not.

Will give more detail when I can.

    Excellent news Phil, and I sympathise with the lonely novel bit - mine was begun in 2011 and I'm on the third major re-write. Good things are a) I joined WriteWords 'MS swap read/writing' group' and had five people read at least the first 14 chapters and give me valuable feedback, and b) I'm not sick of reading it yet!
    Stay with it.

The Prediction - getting the chills

It's starting to get a bit cold outside, I'm having to scrape frost off the car of a morning and there are definitely a few more layers going on before I step out. And yet the weather doesn't chill me half as much as the tales which you lay at my door every week. Speaking of tales, a while back I started up a collaborative chain story on here called Hunted . With the site design it rapidly fell down the pages until a brainwave hit me! I have now put a permanent link to the story on the right hand menu. Take a look and add to the story as you see fit. The Prediction - It's getting hot in here!

Wow, the temperature has been rising and I'm not talking about the weather! Some sizzling entries for last week's Prediction even with that curve ball of a word Cockle. Hoping that the book is a bit kinder this week. Yet that didn't disturb our intrepid Predictioneers and you left me with a headache, a very welcome headache, in my debut week as judge, jury and executioner due to the quality of writing throughout.
